HOW TO KEEP YOUR HOUSE CLEAN AND DRY ON MONSOON

Monsoons are by far one of the most exciting seasons of the year when you can sit in the balcony of your house and watch the raindrops kiss the surface of the earth. However, there is no disclaiming the fact that this season causes the maximum damage to your residence. One of the worst affected with the downpour, are the walls of your house. Leakage, cracks, mold, fungus, etc., can be a nightmare for any homemaker.

#1; PREVENT INSECT INFECTION

The chances for the growth of insects in the house are high in monsoon. Insects can destroy the freshness and sanitation of the house interiors. However, most of them are harmless, but they can ruin the furniture, walls, and also can spread the diseases.

Barricade around all doors: If air can pass through your doors, bugs can get in too. Set up tight-fitting entrances and door sweeps to the base of exterior doors. Use door seals to fill the gap around the sides and top of each door.

Install mosquito nets: In spite, the growth of mosquitoes is high in monsoon. Open waters are the breeding domain for mosquitoes, to get rid of this trouble install mosquito net all over the windows.

Anti- Termite solution: Winged insects like termite can completely damage the home furniture’s. To prevent furniture insects, we should treat the wooden furniture’s with an anti-termite solution. Can apply boric acid and  Beauveria Bassiana etc.

#2; TREAT DAMP WALLS

Damp walls are another major situation that rises. The first precaution to prevent is to seal the cracks that already exist in the wall. In addition to it, we must also waterproof the exterior walls and roofs. Wet patches at the lower portion of skirting are quite detectable during the season, for this, we have to treat the wall with the damp proof course. Such as, it prevents the moisture rising from the ground which may cause the damage.

#3; PREVENT FUNGUS AND MOLD FROM WALL

The most seen blackish gross on the wall is mold and then it lead to toxic, results in fungus. They are mostly found on bathroom and in basements, these fungus’s are very much threatening and dangerous to the occupant.

The first step for prevention is that we should increase the airflow inside the house. Next to it, we can scrub the affected area with boric acid and vinegar. The occupant must install bathroom exhaust to get rid of these troubles in the lavatory area.

 

#4; SHOULD MAINTAIN ELECTRICAL AND PIPES

Electrical issues are undoubtedly common in the rainy season. Rumpled electrical is the major cause of short circuits and also for the dangerous electrical shocks that are highly painful. One should always consult an experienced electrician when it happens to see any hanging wires, switchboards, etc.

#5; CARE FOR WOOD

Maintaining wooden doors is the other challenge faced by the occupant. Moisture accumulation is the dominant reason behind the swelling of wooden furniture’s. The prevention of this cause is that we should always varnish the wooden furniture’s before the season starts up. So, by doing this we can protect the layer of furniture’s from moisture. The next one is to apply a coat of lacquer or polish to the cabinets, bed, wardrobes, etc.

#6; SLIPPERY AREA AND SOLUTION

We must always take care of the slippery prone area, which is very common in the monsoon season. Plumbing and roofing must check before the rainy season, doing this will prevent the water patches on the first spill of rain. Immediately wipe out the water which is hoarded in the corners using wiper frequently.
